The Trust Chairman of Beresibi, an oil rich community in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Prince Sunday Etchie (popularly known as Tongalo), has been honoured with a distinguished award for humanitarian service and community development.

The recognition, presented by the Active Media Online Practitioners (AMOP), celebrates his significant contributions to the growth and transformation of Beresibi Community within just one year in office.

The award presentation took place at his residence in Sapele, where members of the organisation commended him for what they described as impactful and measurable development projects.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Delta State Coordinator of Active Media Online Practitioners, Mrs. Stephanie Odiete, stated that the organisation decided to honour Mr. Etchie after thoroughly assessing his achievements over the past year.

According to her, the team was impressed by the visible changes recorded in the community under his leadership.

She highlighted major projects executed during his tenure, including the construction of a block of six two-bedroom flats, a separate three bedroom flat, and a fully furnished town hall.

Other notable achievements include the purchase of speedboats for community use, the completion of a 1.2-kilometre walkway, the provision of mattresses, and several other interventions aimed at improving living standards in Beresibi.

Mrs. Odiete explained that the award serves as both recognition of service and motivation for Mr. Etchie to continue prioritising community development.

She added that the organisation believes in promoting leaders whose work reflects transparency, dedication, and measurable impact.

Responding after receiving the award, Mr. Etchie expressed gratitude to God for the strength and success recorded so far. He also appreciated his wife for her support, describing her as “a pillar who has encouraged him throughout his leadership journey.”

He extended his appreciation to the Active Media Online Practitioners for finding him deserving of the prestigious honour and assured the group and the entire community that he remains committed to serving Beresibi with sincerity and dedication.

Mr. Etchie further thanked the residents of Beresibi Community for the trust they continue to place in him.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the award presentation, Mrs. Mofe Mayowa, an indigene of Beresibi Community, praised the Trust Chairman for what she described as remarkable progress within a short period.

“I am very happy about this award because it is well deserved. I sincerely wish that Mr. Prince Sunday Etchie could remain the Beresibi Community Trust Chairman forever. The kind of development we have seen under him gives me confidence that, if he continues, our community will develop rapidly to the point where people will begin to compare Beresibi with places like London or Paris. His leadership has brought hope, and we are proud of the transformation happening already.”
