Dafinone Condemns Tragic Killing of 28 Year-Old Oghenemine Million Ogidi, Calls for Swift Justice

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has strongly condemned the alleged extrajudicial killing of a 28-year-old man, Oghenemine Million Ogidi, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.
Ogidi, a native of Ujevwu in Udu Local Government Area, was reportedly killed on April 26, 2026, in Effurun, Delta State. His death has sparked outrage within the community, with growing calls for accountability and justice.
In a statement issued on April 28, Dafinone expressed deep shock and sadness over the incident, stressing that the sanctity of human life must never be compromised. He condemned what he described as a reckless and unwarranted use of force, particularly by those entrusted with the responsibility of protecting citizens.
The lawmaker extended his condolences to the Ogidi family and the people of Udu, noting that no parent should have to endure the pain of losing a child under such circumstances. He said he shares in the grief of the family and the wider community.
Dafinone called on the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, to immediately launch a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident. He urged authorities to ensure that any officer found responsible is held accountable.
He also assured that his office would engage with police leadership to monitor the progress of the investigation and ensure justice is served.
While urging security agencies to act swiftly, the senator appealed to residents of Udu and the general public to remain calm and law-abiding, allowing due process to take its course. He further called on security personnel operating within the district to adhere strictly to professional standards and rules of engagement.
Dafinone emphasized that the primary duty of security forces is to protect lives, not end them, adding that efforts must continue toward building a security system that respects the rights and dignity of all citizens.
