Dafinone Hails Nigeria’s Democratic Progress, Calls for Continued Support for APC

Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their commitment to democracy and support ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s democratic institutions and economic development.
In a statement issued on Friday to commemorate the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, Dafinone described June 12 as a historic symbol of the sacrifices, resilience, and collective determination of Nigerians in the struggle for democratic governance, justice, and national development.
According to the lawmaker, the significance of June 12 lies in its reminder of the enduring power of the people’s will and the need to preserve the democratic ideals for which many patriots laboured and sacrificed.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s democratic journey since 1999, Dafinone noted that the country has recorded steady progress despite facing various economic and social challenges.
“While our nation may be grappling with economic and social difficulties, like many other nations, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to democracy as the best form of government.
Democracy provides the platform for accountability, participation, and peaceful change,” he stated.
The senator urged Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the government’s ongoing reforms are aimed at repositioning the country for greater prosperity, economic stability, and sustainable development.
He acknowledged that some of the economic policies currently being implemented may require patience and sacrifice but expressed confidence that the reforms would yield long-term benefits for the nation.
Dafinone also called on citizens, particularly those in Delta Central Senatorial District, to actively participate in the democratic process through voting and civic engagement.
With the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ongoing, he encouraged all eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that every vote remains a powerful tool for shaping good governance and leadership.
The senator further expressed appreciation to the people of Delta Central for their continued trust and support, as well as their backing of the Delta State Government under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Dafinone urged the people of the district to remain united and politically engaged, emphasizing the need for Delta Central to remain at the centre of national politics and development.
He maintained that the district should continue to support the APC as a platform for advancing the interests of its people and contributing to the growth and prosperity of Nigeria.
Dafinone concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy Democracy Day and reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation and national development.
