Delta Police Urge Residents to Save Control Room Numbers for Emergency Situations

By Endurance Ikanone
The Delta State Police Command has advised residents across the state to always keep and make use of official police emergency lines, particularly the Command Control Room numbers, during security emergencies rather than relying solely on personal contacts within the police force.
The advice was contained in a security awareness message issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, who stressed the importance of contacting official emergency channels for prompt and effective response.
According to the police spokesman, many people often complain that the police failed to respond to distress calls after attempting to reach officers they know personally, especially during odd hours when such officers may be off duty, asleep, or unavailable.
He noted that in situations involving armed robbery, kidnapping, domestic violence, accidents, or any other emergency requiring immediate police intervention, residents should prioritize calling the Command’s Control Room numbers, which are specifically designated to coordinate emergency responses around the clock.
The emergency numbers released by the Delta State Police Command are:
• 08036684974
• 08114895600
• 08025666914
SP Edafe further encouraged residents to also have the contact details of Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) within their local government areas for quicker communication when necessary.
The advisory aligns with the sustained efforts of the Delta State Police Command to strengthen community policing, improve public accessibility to security agencies, and enhance emergency response mechanisms across the state. Recent initiatives by the Command have included the publication of contact details of Area Commanders, DPOs, and Tactical Commanders to facilitate prompt crime reporting and intelligence sharing.
Security experts have consistently emphasized that effective emergency response depends largely on timely communication between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
The Delta State Police Command has also intensified visibility policing, intelligence led operations, and community engagement strategies aimed at preventing crime and ensuring public safety throughout the state.
The Command reiterated that emergency lines should be used responsibly and strictly for genuine security concerns, warning against prank calls and the dissemination of false information, which can hinder emergency operations and delay assistance to people in real distress.
Residents have therefore been urged to save the emergency numbers on their mobile devices, share them with family members, and remain vigilant by reporting suspicious activities promptly. The police believe that stronger collaboration between citizens and security agencies remains a critical factor in maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and combating criminal activities across Delta State.
