Oborevwori has set Delta on an unprecedented path of growth, says Ayemidejor

The Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Transport and Aviation, Hon. Austin Ayemidejor, has declared that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has placed Delta State on a path of economic growth and development never witnessed since the state’s creation.
Ayemidejor made the assertion while reacting to the recent disclosure that Delta State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has risen from about ₦84 billion in 2023 to over ₦200 billion, representing an increase of more than 138 per cent in less than four years of the Oborevwori administration.
According to him, the remarkable increase in revenue is a clear indication that Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda is yielding tangible results and transforming the state’s economy through deliberate policies aimed at reducing dependence on oil revenue.
He said the administration’s focus on agriculture, industrialisation, infrastructure, innovation and improved revenue administration has positioned Delta as one of the leading states in economic diversification in Nigeria.
“The achievements recorded by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori within this short period have shown that purposeful leadership delivers results. In less than four years, Delta State has witnessed unprecedented economic growth, with Internally Generated Revenue rising from about ₦84 billion to over ₦200 billion without imposing additional tax burdens on the people.
“This is a clear demonstration that the Governor is expanding economic opportunities, strengthening institutions and creating a more sustainable future for the state. The figures speak for themselves and confirm that Delta is moving in the right direction.”
Ayemidejor noted that the administration’s decision to widen the tax net, improve compliance and strengthen revenue collection, rather than increase personal income tax, reflects a people oriented approach to governance.
He also applauded the government’s strategic investments in agriculture through Public Private Partnerships, the ongoing development of the Kwale Industrial Park, and efforts to revive maritime activities at the Warri and Forcados ports, describing them as critical projects that would further boost investment, create jobs and expand the state’s revenue base.
The governor’s aide further commended the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) for acknowledging Delta State’s progress in economic diversification, saying the commendation from the federal agency validates the administration’s development agenda.
He expressed confidence that the achievements recorded so far represent only the beginning of greater things to come.
“If Governor Sheriff Oborevwori could achieve this level of economic transformation in less than four years, then giving him another four years will undoubtedly take Delta State to heights it has never attained since its creation. The foundation has already been laid, and a second term will consolidate these gains and accelerate development across every sector of the state’s economy.”
Ayemidejor urged Deltans to continue supporting Governor Oborevwori’s administration, stressing that sustained peace, unity and collective commitment would enable the state to fully realise its enormous economic potential and deliver lasting prosperity for present and future generations.
