Oborevwori’s Visible Projects Are Renewing Public Confidence in Government …civil servants must sustain their support for the M.O.R.E Agenda — Dr. Lawrence Pemu

The second member of the Delta State Civil Service Commission and former Permanent Secretary of the Delta State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Lawrence Pemu, has said that the visible achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration are gradually restoring public confidence in government and strengthening citizens’ belief in the ability of leadership to deliver meaningful development.

Dr. Pemu, who is widely known for his integrity, transparency, professionalism and commitment to due process, noted that the Governor’s M.O.R.E Agenda has translated into practical projects and programmes that are impacting communities across Delta State.

According to him, one of the strongest indicators of the administration’s success is the scale of infrastructure development currently taking place across the state. He cited the 46 kilometre dualisation of the Ughelli/Asaba Road, the construction of the Kwale/Beneku Bridge and Approach Roads, the Isheagu/Ewulu Road and Phase I Bridge, and the reconstruction of Orhorhor Road, Chechester Road and Benjamin Oseregbaje Road in Sapele as examples of projects that have improved mobility and stimulated economic activities in various communities. He also highlighted the ongoing development of roads around Otovwodo Junction in Ughelli as well as numerous road projects in Effurun, Ekpan and Warri.

Dr. Pemu further described the ongoing construction of the three flyovers and associated road infrastructure in Warri and Effurun as one of the signature projects of the Oborevwori administration.

According to him, the project is addressing long standing traffic challenges while modernising transportation infrastructure within the commercial hub of Delta State. He noted that the visible progress on the project has given many residents renewed confidence that government can successfully execute major developmental projects.

The former Permanent Secretary also commended the Governor for maintaining a policy of continuity in governance. He observed that several inherited projects have been sustained and completed rather than abandoned, a development he said has strengthened public trust and reassured citizens that government resources are being utilised responsibly.

Speaking on healthcare, Dr. Pemu said Governor Oborevwori has continued to support the health sector through investments in public healthcare institutions and efforts aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the state. As a former Permanent Secretary of the Hospitals Management Board, he stressed that access to better healthcare services remains one of the major ways government earns the confidence of the people.

He also praised the Governor’s commitment to strengthening public institutions through the appointment and reappointment of competent and experienced individuals into strategic positions.

According to him, such decisions demonstrate a leadership style that places merit, experience and service above sentiment.

Dr. Pemu further noted that civil servants have every reason to support the Oborevwori administration because the Governor has consistently emphasized the need for a focused, efficient and productive civil service. He explained that many of the developmental projects being executed today can only succeed through the dedication and professionalism of public servants.

He urged workers across ministries, departments and agencies to continue supporting the administration by maintaining high standards of accountability, transparency and service delivery. According to him, a motivated and efficient civil service remains critical to achieving the full objectives of the M.O.R.E Agenda.

“The civil service is the engine room of government. Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated commitment to development, institutional strengthening and the welfare of Deltans. Civil servants should continue to support policies and programmes that promote progress and improve the quality of life of our people,” Dr. Pemu stated.

He expressed confidence that with continued support from civil servants and the people of Delta State, the Oborevwori administration would record even greater achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, human capital development and economic growth, leaving behind a legacy of sustainable development and effective governance.
