Okpe Musicians and Orators Inaugurate New Executives, Unveil 2026 Almanac

The National Association of Professional Musicians and Orators of Okpe Kingdom has inaugurated its new national executives and unveiled its 2026 almanac in what stakeholders have described as a significant development for the kingdom’s creative and cultural sector.

The ceremony, held at the Ufuoma Comfort Club in Amukpe, Sapele, brought together traditional voices, performing artists, cultural advocates, and community leaders from across Delta State. The event underscored a renewed commitment to strengthening the professional foundation for musicians and orators in Okpe Kingdom.

A major highlight of the gathering was the donation of ₦1 million by Chief Hon. Festus Pemu, the Oyibu of Okpe Kingdom, widely recognised as a philanthropist and supporter of cultural advancement. His contribution is expected to energise the association’s early initiatives and support its plans for the coming year.

Addressing attendees, Chief Pemu described musicians and orators as custodians of cultural memory and stressed that no society can thrive without honouring its artistic heritage. He expressed pride in the unity displayed by members and encouraged the new executives to uphold integrity and build an institution capable of serving many generations. He also commended the organisers for what he considered a meaningful step toward professionalising Okpe Kingdom’s creative sector.

The newly inaugurated President, Hon. Hezekiah Omo Okpigben, conveyed appreciation to members for the trust placed in him and pledged to lead with transparency, unity, and innovation. He described the mandate as a shared responsibility and reaffirmed the association’s mission to strengthen support systems for musicians and orators, expand opportunities for young talents, and promote professionalism in all engagements. He also acknowledged Chief Pemu’s financial backing, noting its importance in giving the association a solid start.

Community leader Orator Vincent Eyeregba, speaking to newsmen after the ceremony, described the inauguration as a unifying moment for the arts in Okpe Kingdom. He noted that this was the first coordinated effort to bring musicians and orators together under one professional umbrella, expressing optimism that it would inspire discipline, creativity, and broader recognition for cultural practitioners. He urged the executives to remain accessible to members at the grassroots.

The Director of Media and Publicity, Comrade Kenneth Adibor, popularly known as CEO of Kenn Organization Musical Band, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support and reaffirmed the media unit’s commitment to documenting and communicating the association’s activities with professionalism. He stated that the inauguration signaled a new chapter for musicians and orators in Okpe Kingdom and pledged that the media arm would ensure consistent visibility for the association’s achievements.
