TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED UNCLE AND ILLUSTRIOUS SON OF URHOBO LAND Chief Wilson Oghre Ikanone (1948 – 2026)

With deep sorrow, yet profound gratitude to God for a life well lived, I pay tribute to my late uncle, Chief Wilson Oghre Ikanone, whose peaceful transition on 31st January 2026 in the United States has left a void in our hearts.

Uncle Wilson was a man of dignity, honour, and uncommon grace. He lived a life defined by humility, integrity, service, and love for family, community, and humanity.

A proud Urhobo son, he was raised in Sapele and hailed from Ekrerhavwe in Agbarho Kingdom, Ughelli North LGA, Delta State, where he remained deeply rooted in culture, tradition, and communal values.

He was a devoted husband to Olorogun (Mrs) Florence Ikanone, former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Delta State Command. Their union stood as a shining example of love, loyalty, discipline, and mutual respect.

Together, they were widely admired as illustrious Urhobo chiefs who upheld honour, discipline, and service.

Chief Wilson Ikanone was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and encouragement to his family. As an uncle, he was a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration, always offering counsel, support, and kindness.

His gentle nature, warm smile, and generous spirit endeared him to all who crossed his path.

Though we mourn his departure, we are comforted by the legacy he left behind, a legacy of peace, unity, service, and love.

His life touched many, and his memory will forever remain engraved in our hearts.

May Almighty God grant Olorogun (Mrs) Florence Ikanone, the children, and the entire Ikanone family the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss. And may the gentle soul of Chief Wilson Oghre Ikanone rest in perfect peace.
