Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated two distinguished Urhobo legal practitioners, Chief Oghenero Okoro and Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, on their election into key national offices of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Chief Okoro was elected First Vice President of the NBA, while Mrs. Okpomor emerged as the Association’s Assistant General Secretary.
In a congratulatory message, Senator Dafinone described their victories as a proud moment for the Urhobo Nation, Delta State and Nigeria, saying their emergence reflected merit, excellence and an unwavering commitment to service.
According to the senator, the elections were a fitting reward for years of distinguished legal practice, exemplary leadership and dedication to the ideals of justice and the rule of law.
He noted that Chief Okoro’s outstanding tenure as former Chairman of the NBA Warri Branch and Mrs. Okpomor’s impactful service as former Assistant General Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum, Minna Branch, demonstrated their competence, integrity and professionalism.
Dafinone said their victories came as no surprise, describing them as embodiments of the enduring “Urhobo Can-Do Spirit” through years of diligence and hard work.
“As you assume these important national responsibilities, I urge you to bring your vast experience, sound judgment and exemplary leadership to bear in advancing the Nigerian Bar Association’s vision,” he said.
The senator stressed that the legal profession remains the guardian of justice, constitutional democracy and the rule of law, expressing confidence that both leaders would uphold the highest ethical standards, strengthen the Bar, promote judicial independence and contribute to reforms that would enhance public confidence in
Nigeria’s justice system.
He further stated that their achievements should serve as an inspiration to young lawyers and professionals across Delta Central and the country, reaffirming that integrity, competence, resilience and selfless service remain the surest pathways to enduring leadership and national relevance.
On behalf of the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, Dafinone congratulated the newly elected NBA national officers and wished them wisdom, strength, good health and divine guidance as they assume their new responsibilities.
