The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Sapele Local Government Area chapter, has made a passionate and humanitarian appeal to those holding the abducted Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Hon. Bright Abeke, urging that he be released safely and without harm.

In a press statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade Kingsley Abebe, and Public Relations Officer, Comrade Lucky Mene, the youth body expressed deep concern over the continued captivity of the council boss, describing the situation as distressing for his family and the entire Sapele community.

The statement, which struck a calm and sympathetic tone, emphasized that the appeal was not political but driven purely by humanitarian considerations.

The youths called on those responsible to act with compassion and empathy, noting that Hon. Abeke’s absence has created emotional strain on his immediate family and widespread anxiety among Sapele residents.

“We appeal to the conscience of those holding our leader,” the statement read. “Hon. Bright Abeke is not just a political figure; he is a father, a husband, and a servant of the people. His children need him. His family is in pain, and the community he serves is deeply worried.”

Hon. Bright Abeke was reportedly abducted on April 10, 2026, in an incident that has since drawn significant public attention and concern. Since then, his whereabouts have remained unknown, heightening fears among residents and political associates.

The NYCN described the development as a painful moment for Sapele, noting that the abduction of a sitting council chairman goes beyond an individual case and touches on the collective peace and stability of the area.

According to the youth body, the incident has left many residents unsettled, as they continue to hope for a positive outcome.

“Our appeal is simple and sincere,” the statement added. “We are pleading that you consider the tears of his wife, the cries of his children, and the concern of a community that now lives in uncertainty. Please let him go and allow him return home safely.”

The group stressed that no situation should result in prolonged suffering for innocent family members, urging those involved to show understanding and humanity in resolving the matter.

The NYCN also called on security agencies to intensify ongoing efforts to secure the chairman’s release, while expressing confidence that authorities are working diligently behind the scenes. At the same time, they urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security operations, noting that cooperation with relevant agencies is essential in times like this.

Across Sapele, residents have continued to follow developments closely, with many expressing hope that the situation will be resolved peacefully.

Sapele Residents have largely maintained a cautious and measured response, focusing on prayers and appeals rather than speculation.

Some say the approach adopted by the youth council reflects the wider mood in the town, one centered on empathy, restraint, and a shared desire for the safe return of the abducted chairman.

As uncertainty lingers, the message from Sapele’s youths remains clear and unified: that the life of Hon. Bright Abeke is valued, and that his safe return is of utmost importance to his family and the entire Sapele town at large.

For now, residents wait with hope, holding on to the belief that their collective appeal will be heard and that the council chairman will return home unharmed.
