Reinstatement of Suppressed Second Constituency of Sapele: Ayemidejor Credits Orodje as Okorodudu’s Briefing Triggered Legal Path to Historic Victory

By Queen Stephanie Ikanone Odiete
The long anticipated actualisation of the suppressed second Constituency of Sapele local government area has finally come to fruition, marking a significant political and legal milestone for the people of Sapele and the wider Okpe Kingdom.
While reflecting on the journey, Hon. Austine Ayemidejor paid glowing tributes to His Royal Majesty, Orhue 1, Cfr, Mni, Orodje of Okpe Kingdom for his leadership and influence, describing his intervention as the turning point that transformed the agitation into a concrete legal and political victory.
Ayemidejor said that the victory follows years of sustained advocacy, strategic engagements, and a decisive legal process that reshaped the constituency framework and secured improved representation.
Speaking accordingly, the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Aviation and Transport, Hon. Austine Ayemidejor, described the achievement as a collective victory, stressing that no single individual can claim sole credit for the success recorded.
According to Ayemidejor, the defining moment in the journey occurred when Hon. Ebenezer Okorodudu briefed the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Orhue 1, CFR, Mni, on the need, viability, and legal prospects of reinstating the suppressed second Constituency of Sapele local government area.
He explained that it was after this crucial engagement that the legal process formally began, with Okorodudu leading the charge through an integrity group that pursued the matter from the High Court to the Court of Appeal in Asaba.
Ayemidejor noted that Orodje’s intervention proved instrumental, as the revered monarch subsequently convened a critical stakeholders’ meeting that brought together key actors, fostering unity and strengthening the resolve to see the process through to a successful conclusion.
“He further revealed that he played a major role in coordinating contributions from well meaning Okpe sons for the legal process”.
Ayemidejor also commended the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, for his support, alongside Hon. Ebenezer Okorodudu for spearheading the legal battle.
Other notable contributors acknowledged by Austine Ayemidejor include Rt. Hon. Efe Afe, Hon. Chief Perkins Umukoro, Hon. Okakuro Eugene Inoaghan, Hon. Okakuro Julius Egbedi, Chief Felix Anirah, Dr. Godfrey Enita, Hon. Chief Ejaife Odebala, and Hon. Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke.
Ayemidejor also extended appreciation to the numerous sons and daughters of Okpe Kingdom whose contributions both visible and behind the scenes were vital in achieving the milestone.
He reiterated that the reinstatement of the suppressed second Constituency of Sapele stands as a product of unity, resilience, and shared commitment, insisting that “nobody can take credit to himself alone,” as the success reflects the collective effort of the entire Okpe Kingdom.
With the actualisation now secured, stakeholders believe that the second constituency will enhance representation, deepen democratic participation, and usher in a new era of political inclusion for the people of Sapele.
