Melvin Akpomiemie Kogoro, founder of the Youth O Clock Movement Worldwide, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Delta State House of Assembly seat representing Sapele Constituency under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The declaration, which was made on May 14, 2026, has already generated reactions within the political space in Sapele, with many youths and supporters describing his entrance into the race as a major development ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The youthful aspirant, who has gained popularity in Sapele through several humanitarian and empowerment initiatives, described the NDC as “the only party that can take Nigeria to the next level,” expressing confidence that the party has the vision and leadership needed to reposition the country.

According to him, “A new Nigeria is possible with the NDC. Nigerians are tired of empty promises and politics without impact.
The people need leaders who understand their struggles and are ready to serve with sincerity and commitment.”

Kogoro stated that his decision to contest was driven by his passion to improve the welfare of residents of Sapele Constituency, particularly youths, students, women, and vulnerable persons.

He promised that if elected into the Delta State House of Assembly, he would focus on improving education, empowering youths, supporting market women, and creating opportunities capable of improving the standard of living of the people.

“My priority will be education, youth empowerment, support for market women, and policies that will directly better the lives of our people,” he said.

Over the years, Kogoro has become widely known in Sapele for his grassroots interventions and philanthropic activities. He reportedly awarded scholarships to students, distributed school notebooks and sanitary pads to pupils, provided financial assistance to widows and small business owners, and recently introduced free bus transportation for students following the restriction on commercial motorcycles in parts of Sapele.

He also launched a youth empowerment initiative with 250 skill acquisition slots for residents and renovated the Youth Center at Awolowo as part of efforts aimed at encouraging youth development and community engagement.

Residents within the constituency believe Kogoro’s growing popularity is largely connected to his accessibility, youth focused initiatives, and direct involvement in community based interventions long before officially declaring his political ambition.

Many supporters at the declaration venue described him as a vibrant and dependable young leader whose humanitarian activities and “Youth O Clock” movement have continued to attract widespread support across Sapele Constituency.

With his official declaration, political activities within Sapele are expected to intensify as aspirants across different political parties begin consultations and mobilization immediately after parties primaries ahead of the 2027 Delta State House of Assembly election.
